Cee Lo Says "Thank You" To Firefighters

The singer re-recorded his Grammy-winning single as a tribute to volunteers.

In an ironic twist of fate, Cee Lo Green has taken what is perhaps the most popular song about being dissed in recent memory and turned it into a song of thanks. Partnering with Duracell Battery's Power Those Who Protect Us campaign, Green re-recorded his Grammy-winning hit "Forget You" with new lyrics thanking the efforts of volunteer firemen. "Our lives have been blessed 'cause you're simply the best and we thank you," he sings in the new version of the song.

"I am proud to join the Power Those Who Protect Us cause, to tell my own story and shed light on the tireless sacrifices our nation's volunteers make each and every day to protect their communities," Green said in a statement. The cause hits close to home for Mr. Green who, at the age of 16, nearly lost his mother in a car accident before she was saved by volunteer firefighters. His mother later became a volunteer firefighter herself. Power Those Who Protect Us is raising funds for firehouses nationwide. 'Thank You' is available for free download on Duracell's Facebook page for the first 10,000 fans.
