Game Sets New Date for R.E.D. Album Release

The Compton MC says much-delayed LP coming on August 23.

Fans of West Coast hip hop mainstay Game have been patiently waiting through several delays of his fourth studio album, The R.E.D. Album. Now the rapper has taken to Twitter to announce a release date for the project.

"#alliwantis for my fans to know that the R.E.D. album will be in-stores AUGUST 23rd !!! Thanks for the continuous love & support. #REDnation," Game tweeted.
The Aftermath artist has suffered a number of delays on the road to releasing the LP, which was originally expected to hit stores in late 2009. In a recent interview with Billboard.com, however, Game promised his new album would not be postponed again.
“I had a meeting with [Interscope head] Jimmy Iovine last week, and he told me the album was slated for the end of the summer, and it will not be pushed back any more than that," he said. "So we're looking towards late August."
On Twitter, Game confirmed the hard sales date as August 23.
"Just got off a conference call with Jimmy Iovine & @interscope . Aug 23rd is the release date & it's like a FAT GIRL..... It won't move !" he tweeted.
Since the release of his last album, LAX, in 2008, Game has kept the streets buzzing with two blockbuster mixtapes: 2010's The Red Room and this year's Purp & Patron, both hosted by DJ Skee.
