With the success of Fox’s American Idol it seems like every other day brings a new singing competition to television. Currently popular shows include The Sing-Off, The Voice, Platinum Hit, The X-Factor and, of course, the aforementioned American Idol.

But what about a competition that caters to hip hop talent? Snoop Dogg says it's high time to take a star-making reality vehicle to the hood.

"I'm looking for a deal from a network to find America's hottest hood artists," Snoop said in a recent interview with the UK's The Guardian.

The Doggfather considers his show to be similar to Simon Cowell's much-buzzed-about X-Factor, but "straight directed to the hood … at people with no money, just talent."

Sounds pretty compelling; and judging from one of his latest releases Snoop is certainly intrigued by untapped hip hop talent.
