Whitney Houston Not Suffering From Life-Threatening Illness, Says Rep

Though her well-being appears to be in jeopardy, emphysema rumors are "completely untrue."

After having to cancel several European tour dates in support of her most recent album I Look To You due to a respiratory infection that affected her vocal ability, the National Enquirer reported that Whitney Houston had been diagnosed with emphysema, a fatal illness often caused by smoking. Kristen Foster, Houston's representative, went on E! News to set the record straight. She called the rumors "completely untrue" and denied that doctors told the Grammy-winning singer she would exact an untimely death if she did not stop smoking cigarettes. It is no secret that Houston has suffered from substance abuse in the past. She has made considerable strides to focus on her career in the last few years in hopes of securing a successful comeback.
