After an almost 20-minute interview with New York's Power 105.1's Breakfast Club radio show, it seemed like Lil Mama had had enough. The self-proclaimed voice of the young people was brought to tears at the close of the interview, when the rapper started talking about the death of her mother.

"When I was 17 years old, I put out an album while my mother was dying of cancer," Lil Mama said before the tears started to well up in her eyes. "That right there alone is a struggle. That's hard. That's tough for anybody."

Mama's breakdown came after a tough interview, where radio personality Charlamagne Tha God continuously made harsh comments about Lil Mama's looks, her actions and music.

"I've taken a step away from music already. I'm starting to get back into it," Lil Mama said of her hiatus from recording. "But my music will speak for itself....My mother will be proud."
