Common Explains 'Ghetto Dreams' Lyrics

The MC says his use of 'bitch' is metaphorical.

Common may have written the female-friendly track "The Light" but he also penned "Heidi Hoe." The Chicago MC's skill for tackling wide-ranging topics appear in his new single "Ghetto Dreams," which features Nas.

"I was like, 'I want a bitch that look good and cook good.' I was just thinking about being in the 'hood, what I want, and then the song goes on from there," Common explained to MTV News of the song's opening that concludes with "Cinderella fancy, but she still look 'hood."

"Right there I'm saying, 'Look, I want a bad woman.' She look raw and she could cook and she could get very elegant, but at the same token she has the know-how in the street."

Common and Nas reportedly shot the clip for "Ghetto Dreams" in Los Angeles on July 25. This is the first single from the rapper/actor's upcoming LP, The Dreamer, The Believer.
