The hit maker says he hangs out for research.
The way will.i.am tells it, he doesn't just create party music, he studies the party.
When he's not in the studio creating beats, he can be found spinning them in Los Angeles clubs into the wee hours of the morning.
According to The National Ledger, the 36-year-old producer says, "I go out partying to figure out exactly who I'm making music for. You can't just guess."
“If I'm DJing until three, I party until five, sleep around six, wake up at nine. And that's when I start thinking. Real thinking."
Three hours of sleep seems to be the norm for music geniuses, as Diddy echoed the same sentiments last year during a "Nightline" interview.
He tells Martin Bashir, "I was proud of working 18 hours a day and sleeping three hours a night. It's something now that has turned into a problem for me: not being able to sleep...having insomnia.... I take sleeping pills.... When I was starting out it was something I embraced, but now it's something that I hate, it tortures—it will torture you."
Hopefully will.i.am has less trouble shutting his brain down.
