Nicki Minaj Says New Album to Feature More Roman Zolanski
On her smash debut, Pink Friday, Nicki Minaj found one of her most critically acclaimed songs in "Roman's Revenge," on which she introduced the world to her unhinged, male alter ego "Roman Zolanski." Speaking backstage at the VMAs on Sunday (August 28), Nicki confirmed that fans of Roman will get plenty more of the character on her new album.
“Well, the new album is going to have a lot of Roman on it, and if you’re not familiar with Roman, you will be familiar with him soon,” she told EW.com.
“He’s a boy who lives inside of me,” Minaj said. “I have a lot of surprises I don’t want to give away. Everyone will be more than satisfied with the new album.”
On his last outing, Roman caused a stir with verses that were largely believed to be attacks on Minaj's longtime foe Lil Kim. Whether or not the invented persona's return means more digs at Kim or the arrival of a new target remains to be seen.
