Not so fast. Internet reports that Atlanta rap star T.I. was set to go free from federal prison this week have been refuted by the rapper's lawyer, Jonathan Leonard.

In an interview with XXLmag.com, Leonad said reports of Tip's release from Forrest City Federal Prison were premature.

“The Bureau of Prisons, they won’t give you the information [of his release] until the very last minute,” Leonard told XXL.

Previously MTV.com reported that T.I. would be released to a halfway house Wednesday [August 31] and set free completely the following day. That would have bumped his release date up a whole month earlier than expected.

The "King of the South" is currently serving out an 11-month sentence for violating parole by being caught with drugs in Los Angeles.

Leonard said there is a chance his client could be home sooner than expected, but it's all in the hands of the prison officials.

“The Bureau of Prisons makes all the decisions once [someone goes] into the federal system, then the federal prisons is the governing body as to when he’s released, the judge has no control over it,” he explained. “And you don’t have any real contact with them, they don’t communicate with you and they don’t tell you when exactly he’s gonna be released.”

He added that while he's in the dark on Tip's homecoming, he has spoken to the rapper recently.

“He’s doing great,” Leonard said. “He’s certainly looking forward to getting this behind him.”
