The Odd Future front man wanted to "fan out" when Weezy skated with his crew.
Skateboarding, dope rhymes and an off-kilter outlook: Lil Wayne and Odd Future already have a lot in common. But Tyler, the Creator wants to take the common threads to the next level—in the studio.
The OFWGKTA front man recently told MTV News that he's a huge fan of Weezy, and wants to make beats for him. "Wayne's cool. I ran into him at my hangout back home, and he's just cool," Tyler told MTV News. "I actually have this beat that I want him on, but I was too scared to get it to [manager Christian] Clancy to get it to them, but Wayne's cool."
Tyler said he wanted to tell Weezy how much he liked his music, but was surprised when Wayne turned the tables and said he was a huge Odd Future fan. "I wanted to kinda fan out and s--t," Tyler admitted, "but he gave me a speech about how happy he was that I won a VMA and that seeing my mom go crazy kinda made him feel like he won it too, because that s--t was real as f--k."
"He sat there for three minutes giving me a speech, and I'm like, 'I just wanted to say that Da Drought 3 was my sh--,' and I couldn't," Tyler continued,
Wayne and Odd Future skated together at the Supreme store in L.A., and Tyler says he's suportive of Weezy's embrace of skate culture. "It's just weird when people from a different world come into our world," he said. "But then again, he's just f---in' having fun. That's what people don't get and sh--. He's learning, and I think it's cool that he takes the time out of his day to just do some f---in' sh-- that makes him happy for the day. I just wish people would realize sh-- like that."
And apparently the admiration is mutual. Wayne was wearing a MellowHype T-shirt on the set of Birdman's "Y.U. Mad" video in Miami earlier this month. "I just rock with 'em," Lil Tunechi told MTV. "I'm just real cool with the homies. Shouts out, Tyler."
