Diamond Close to Releasing Debut Album, Signing New Deal

“It’s time to take this thing mainstream.”

With most of Atlanta’s major players dealing with legal troubles and album delays Atlanta rhyme slinger Brittany “Diamond” Carpentero is proudly doing her part to keep the hometown banner waving. During a recent appearance at 106 and Park to judge Freestyle Friday, and premiere her new video “Buy It All” off her August mixtape Poor Lil Rich Gurl, the Southern belle tells BET.com that she’s close to delivering her long overdue solo debut.

“It’s been a long time since I came out with a album since Crime Mob” admits the Georgia native. “I just been dropping mix CDs or whatever, and just, you know, letting people know I’m on my grizzy, so now it’s time to take this thing mainstream.”
The former Crime Mob member promises the audience will notice that she is blossoming into a better entertainer on the upcoming project.
“I’m tapping into different genres of music,” Diamond says. “I’m singing, it’s a lot of melodic sounds, I’m showing my sensitive side.”
Though she plans to show growth in her artistry, Diamond won’t stray too far from her club-friendly, sassy persona.

“This new album is basically showcasing the fact that at the end of the day a lot of people have known me for having that crunk in the club grimy sound, and I’m evolving,” says the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards nominee.
The Georgia Peach has recruited bombastic producer Bangladesh, R&B stars Keri Hilson and Lloyd to help her craft tunes for the still untitled debut.

With an announcement of a major label signing on the horizon Diamond is setting the stage to have a big breakout year in 2012.
“Every second there’s always someone else on their A-game too so you can’t really let a second go by to where your not on point,” says the petite beauty. “It’s always that next person who will just come and take the world by surprise.”
