Asher Roth Signs to Def Jam

The rapper will drop new mixtape next week, second album in 2012.

After an extended break from the spotlight, Asher Roth is ready to return to rap’s mainstream. The suburban rapper is leaving SRC/Universal Records for Def Jam, home of Big Sean and Kanye West, reports HipHopDX. The site also claims Roth plans to release a mixtape, Pabst & Jazz, next week and drop his sophomore album, Is This Too Orange, early next year. Def Jam executive Shawn Costner confirmed the news.

Is This Too Orange will be the follow-up to Roth’s successful debut album Asleep in the Bread Aisle. According to MySpace, Roth has been in the studio with Pharrell Williams and Nottz Raw working on the upcoming disc.
