Kid Cudi Announces Rock Album Release Date, New Group Name

He and Dot Da Genius will now be called W Z R D.

After gaining success from two hip-hop albums, Kid Cudi has decided to throw fans a curve ball by announcing plans to release a rock album next year. With the help of "Day & Nite" producer Dot Da Genius, Cudi's next project, which has yet to be titled, will drop January 30. He also took to Twitter to offer an update on the duo's new name and what fans won't find anywhere on the album.

"News update! Me and @DotDaGenius are no longer called 2 Be Continuum," he wrote. "The world will call us W Z R D, which is short for WIZARD."

He then explained that the release date had to be pushed back to continue working on the mixes and get it to "sonically be where it needs to be. For your smoke sesh enjoyment!"

But there was one move fans were already questioning: the announcement that this would be a record free of profanity and the usage of the word "n---a."

"Haha man some of yall really upset theres no profanity?? You know songs can be written with out them right?" Cudi tweeted after getting replies about the lack of curses in the tracks. "Some of yall listen to so much ignorant s--t that thats all you know or are accustomed to. My fans are smart, I know yall better then this."

He's also giving fans a taste of what's to come soon with the album's first single.

"You will be pleased. Ladies, your gonna have something to shake those booties to."
