Alicia Keys Recalls Friendship with Whitney Houston

The singer talks about collaborations and "sleepovers" with her music idol.

While millions of fans worldwide mourn the loss of a musical legend, many in the music industry are grieving the untimely death of their close friend Whitney Houston. Alicia Keys, who grew up listening to Houston's music and became her collaborator on Houston's the 2009 album I Look to You, was one of several stars who gave moving tributes to Houston at Clive Davis' pre-Grammys gala on Saturday.
"You feel sad because that's how it feels when you lose someone you love," Keys said from the stage at the Beverly Hilton. "Then you think back to how much this person has touched your life."
Keys recalled a time when she was pregnant, and was paid a visit by Houston. The women just hung out "like girls" having a sleepover. Keys said Houston was like "a sister" to her.
The "Empire State of Mind" singer was one of many celebrities at the gala who shared impromptu thoughts about Houston, who passed away just hours before the annual event.
