Diddy: It Felt Great to Get Back With Mase

Diddy talks reunion with former Bad Boy star Mase, G-Dep murder case and more.

Diddy recently stopped by Hot 97 to chop it up with Funkmaster Flex and the entertainment honcho talked about a variety of subjects, including his much discussed Wale remix with Mase, G. Dep's recent murder conviction, taking back the Forbes title from Jay-Z and his very own bedroom intruder.
Of recording the remix of Wale's "Slight Work" with Mase, Diddy said he was excited to reunite with his old running buddy.
"When I got the record, I had to make sure my verse was tight so I could pass it off right," he said. "Me and Mase are cool, we've kept in touch over the years. I love Mase. If it wasn't for Mase, I wouldn't be at where I'm at today. Me and him was like Batman and Robin, so it felt good to get back with him."
As for the fate of another Bad Boy alum, Diddy said he was as stunned as anyone when G. Dep confessed to, and was recently convicted of, a 1993 murder.
"I was like 'Wow,'" he said of hearing the news. "Because none of that was in G. Dep's nature. When he was going through things with the substance abuse, he was like a different person. But on a normal day, he was one of the nicest, quietest, humblest cats that are out there. So this was so out of character that it was mind-blowing."
"It's a shame because he was such a great talent, and it all kind of stems from substance abuse," he added.
Earlier in the interview, Diddy touched on his recent crowning by Forbes magazine as the wealthiest man in hip hop. The veteran mogul said he had a friendly relationship with his perennial rival for the top spot, Jay-Z.
"I'm usually number one," he said. "Jay had it for like two years. Our plan was always to flip flop it back and forth, but I told him this was the year we had to flop it back to its original owner."
Diddy also mentioned that he plans to give some of his fortune to charitable organizations.
Lastly, Flex asked Puff about the intruder who was arrested after he was found living in the Bad Boy founder's vacant mansion in the Hamptons.
"I might have stayed, too. It's a nice place," Diddy joked about the situation. "There's always something in the fridge, there's always something at the bar... I hope he enjoyed it while it lasted. He didn't hurt or break anything, so he's alright by me."
