Rihanna Mourns Late Grandmother on Twitter

Grief-stricken pop star Rihanna is heading home to be with her family.

Following the death of her grandmother this weekend, music superstar Rihanna has pulled out of the Rock in Rio concert and is heading to her native Barbados to attend funeral services. Rih Rih tweeted, “Coming home to squeeze ya mama,” before boarding a private jet this morning [July 3].

Rihanna's grandmother, Clara "Dolly" Braithwaite, died of cancer over the weekend, causing the Barbadian pop star to break into a tribute to the life of her "Gran Gran" on Twitter.
A reportedly heart-broken Rih Rih stumbled through a performance in Sweden on Saturday before opening up about the loss on Sunday night.
"Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you," she tweeted. She followed up by posting several photos of her grandmother.
A show of support later came from Rihanna's ex, Chris Brown, who said Dolly was like a grandmother to him as well.
"Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP," he tweeted.
Brown's mother, Joyce Hawkins, also offered her condolences.
"Angel may God be with you and your family in your time of sorrow. Love you angel," she wrote. RiRi expressed her appreciation for the sentiment in a response.
"Thank you! Love u mama," she wrote.
Rihanna had recently spent time visiting with her grandmother in the hospital. Last month, she posted pictures of herself with her ailing gran gran.
"My heart smiled and cried all at once," she wrote at the time.
