Kanye West in Talks to Join American Idol?

Mr. West is reportedly the latest star being considered as a judge on the show.

The competition on American Idol has become less about the contestants on the show chasing their dreams to become crowned the next big thing in music and more about the celebrities racing for a seat on the judging panel. Each passing day seems to generate a new star’s name in the running, but with Kanye West being the latest in the string of names to join Mariah Carey and possibly Nicki Minaj, the competition might be over.

TMZ is reporting that producers for the show are interested in adding ‘Ye to the cast, but sources say “He’s on the fence.” He’s not sure if Idol is the right move, which is ironic considering Yeezy has become notorious for his raw criticism at award shows.

Sources also revealed that money is an issue and that A.I. would have to "at least match Mariah's salary" which is reportedly $18 million a year.

The show is undergoing a lot of changes in its 12th season. Veteran judge Randy Jackson will be switched to a mentor and there is now talk about adding a fourth judge to round out the panel. At the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe also said a panel change could happen each season.

So there is still hope for the other candidates who include, but are certainly not limited to Pharrell Williams, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers.
