A spokesman for Tenet gives the answer.
Lots of rappers like to boast of associations with the president, but how many can say they've hobnobbed with the CIA? That's exactly what Kanye West claimed on his latest single "Clique," on which he raps that he once met with former CIA director George Tenet.
“Yeah, I’m talking business, we talking CIA/I’m talking George Tenet, I seen him the other day/He asked me about my Maybach, think he had the same/Except mine tinted and his might have been rented,” 'Ye rhymes.
But is it true? Did the Louis Vuitton Don actually come face-to-face with George W. Bush's spy chief? Actually, yes. Wired.com caught up with Tenet's spokesman Bill Harlow who confirms that he did in fact meet Kanye earlier this year.
Harlow says Kanye and Tenet "bumped into each other" while Tenet was leaving a business meeting in a building in New York. Members of their respective entourages introduced the two and, “they chatted briefly,” Harlow says. “The next thing you know, it’s recorded history.”
As for the Maybachs? The ex-CIA director's spokesman says Yeezy may have been taking "poetic license" with that one.
“There was no discussion of Maybachs,” he says.
