Love in the Future will not make its planned fall release date.
John Legend fans have been eagerly anticipating the soulful crooner's upcoming fourth album — a re-teaming with Kanye West titled Love in the Future. But in a recent post to his website, Legend says the project is taking longer than anticipated.
The G.O.O.D. Music singer has pushed the album, which had been scheduled to come out this fall, into 2013 while he continues to work on new music. A tour that was planned to kick off later this month has also been pushed into next year.
"We announced the dates before we'd finished the album because we were sure we'd finish the album in time," Legend writes. "But, unfortunately, while the creative process has been exciting and I'm pretty certain we're going to deliver the best album of my career so far, the timing hasn't adhered to the schedule I originally envisioned."
Those who have purchased tickets to a handful of shows that have already gone on sale are being offered a full refund. Meanwhile, those looking for more Kanye-backed John Legend in their lives will have to console themselves with Cruel Summer.
