Rihanna and Nicki Minaj Lead American Music Award Nominations
Yesterday, Christina Aguilera announced the 2012 American Music Awards nominations. Aguilera, who also revealed she'll be performing on the show, named Nicki Minaj and Rihanna as the leading nominees with four nominations each. Runners up with three nominations are Drake, Usher, Maroon 5, Justin Bieber and One Direction. The two official queens of the pack are both rather excited.
Rih Rih tweeted the news to her fans, and shortly thereafter bragged, "#thatd---Rihannareign." The Navy captain has experienced massive success this year with the release of her second fragrance, Rebelle, and her fashion show, Styled to Rock. The singer is also working on her seventh studio album.
Echoing her "Fly" co-artist's enthusiasm, Nicki added, "4 nominations?!?!?! Whoa! Thank you so very much to the American Music Awards. Very, very grateful. Luvu Barbz!!!" The pop star has been preoccupied with her new judging role on American Idol, the debut of her first fragrance, Pink Friday, and another album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded — The Re-Up. She recently performed "Girl on Fire" with Alicia Keys and Olympian gymnast Gabby Douglas at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards.
There's no word whether or not Minaj and Rihanna will hit the stage at the AMAs, but fans are at least excited to see the celebs' musical talents recognized. The show will broadcast live on ABC from Los Angeles' Nokia Theater on November 18.
