Producer-rapper SpaceGhostPurrp had a breakout year, emerging from the shadow of A$AP Rocky and his acolytes with his solo debut, Mysterious Phonk: Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp, released in June. But just as quickly as he entered the spotlight, it looks like Purrp has decided to take his bow. In a post to his Facebook page last night, the 21-year-old artist from Miami said he's leaving the rap game.

"Just want yall to know that threw these past 3 years from making music 4 yall i had fun myn---a," he wrote. "I had a good year this year and showed n----s i can still be successful by myself since the beginning....i wont be doing this sh-t no more i learned alot about this shady ass rap game .. its [sic] like monkey see monkey do .. and im not that type of dude."

SpaceGhost didn't go into specifics regarding what inspired the dramatic decision, but stressed the importance he places on his individuality.

"I never wanted be the perfect lyricist or best beat maker i wanted to be me and ima still be me .. just not in the shady ass rap shi-t," he wrote. "Im to real for it and when i say real im to ME ... not nobody else ..im done."

SpaceGhost, who released his debut on the iconic indie label 4AD Records, said he would continue to support his rap collective known as the Raider Klan.
