Bey watchers are puzzled by the somber tone of her latest post.
Beyoncé observers are scratching their heads after the typically composed and polished pop star posted an uncharacteristically somber note to her Instagram. The high-powered wife and mother snapped a photo of a handwritten quote — a budding tradition of hers since joining Instagram earlier this month — that alludes to a woeful personal relationship.
"Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness," the quote, from American poet Mary Oliver, reads. "It took me years to understand that this, too, was a gift."
Whether Bey is referring to something she has experienced in one of her own relationships with this quote, and which one, is open for speculation. Bossip, for one, flags it as "shocking" that the pop diva would open up about being spurned in this way.
Of course, the post, like many social media missives, can be interpreted in any number of different ways. And those looking for "trouble in paradise" between Beyoncé and doting husband Jay-Z might note that there is nothing in the quote that implies that the relationship in question is a romantic one.
