The New York Knicks lost to their new crosstown rivals the Brooklyn Nets last night when guard J.R. Smith’s final shot missed the basket. The Nets held onto an 88-85 win, only one game behind the Knicks in the Atlantic Division for the first time since November. But although the Knicks and Smith lost on the court, they pulled out a win over their foes somewhere else — on Twitter.
Shortly after that final buzz, Net power forward Kris Humprhies — better known around these parts as Kim Kardashian’s ex — posted a gloating, smack-talking tweet. “Big game tonight!” he wrote. “The Garden got really quiet on the way out! #Brooklyn”
The message was retweeted more than a thousand times, but it wasn’t just fans who took notice. The Knicks’ Smith tweeted back the following retort: “Wasnt quiet when Kanye tore it down last month!”
He may have missed that last shot, but he hit a three-pointer (with a foul) here: Kanye West did indeed perform at MSG last month as part of the 12-12-12 benefit concert, but there’s no doubt that the tweet was also a not-so-subtle dig over the fact the rapper also impregnated Humphries' ex. On Dec. 31, Kanye announced that he and Kim were expecting.
Can you say "swish?"
