Man Charged With the Murder of Yung Teddy

A convicted felon has been arrested in connection with the shooting of the Atlanta rapper.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a man by the name of Curley Dean Holden was charged with the murder of Justin Mitchell, a.k.a. Yung Teddy. The 23-year-old Atlanta rapper was found shot dead in his apartment earlier this month after receiving a string of threatening texts just hours before his death, and even tweeted about the eerie messages he was receiving.

Holden is a convicted felon that also goes by the name Willie Danyel Hunt. The arrest warrant obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution states that, "The accused pointed the handgun in the direction of Mr. Mitchell and fired several times." It also says that Holden broke into Mitchell’s Austell, Ga., home and that two women witnessed the entire crime.

After being on the run the past few weeks, Cobb County jail records show that Holden was placed under arrest on January 23 for “terroristic threats” for a hostile incident that occurred at a barbecue. Then, on Friday, while in jail, he was charged with murder and three counts of aggravated assault in Mitchell’s death. Holden has been in prison twice and was released in August after serving 18 months following a conviction on drug charges and making false statements, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Yachari Kiyana Miller, also a Cobb County resident, was arrested only days after Teddy’s murder for allegedly sending the threatening messages he received prior to his death. Miller was released today after posting $4,620 bond.
