Joe Budden and Consequence Clash on the Set of Love & Hip Hop New York

The rap stars come to blows at the reunion show tapping.

Love was not in the air during yesterday’s taping of Love & Hip Hop’s reunion show. The VH1 reality show will be must-see TV when it airs after the long-standing beef between stars Consequence and Joe Budden escalated into multiple physical altercations backstage.

“Just Smacked The S--t outta @JoeBudden,” tweeted Queens MC Consequence last night (March 12) while the show was still being taped. The former A Tribe Called Quest and Kanye West collaborator closed his explosive tweet by saying, “Everybody have a Nice Day,” a reference to he and Budden’s last confrontation during a Hot 97 interview in February.

Budden also took to Twitter to explain his side of the story. “During break Tahiry & I were headed outside to smoke,” said Budden. “Dude came behind, jumped & hit me as I’m walking away.” He also claimed that his on-off girlfriend immediately retaliated to the attack and sent Consequence running away. “Tahiry snuffs him, he runs… It was the most p---y display ever seen from a n---a to be quite honest… & it’s all on tape, so y’all can see the p---y s--t 4 yourself.”

Budden later called in to Hot 97’s Angie Martinez during a break in filming to give further details on the incident. “Somebody just runs up behind me and hits me in the back of the head with their hand. I’m thinking, ‘Is this a girl that’s maybe upset about something I said during the filming?’ And it’s him. He’s running away now.”

“I honestly thought it was a woman doing it,” Budden told Martinez before sharing his plan to invite Cons to a fair fight away from the VH1 lens. “I’m not gonna do nothing but invite him in the bathroom. If you got a problem with me, we could address this at any time,” he said.

Budden said this was their first time in the same building since their infamous Hot 97 run-in when Budden confronted Cons about comments he was making about him in the press. “I’m new to this reality TV stuff. I’ve been a rapper all my life. I’m definitely not used to this. I just gotta get used to these antics people pull," he said.

After promising Martinez that, “this is a developing story,” Budden apparently got some measure of revenge later in the taping. “Yo @ItsTheCons u good or nah ?,” he tweeted later in the night. “Hope son ight, I was headed home & seen dude talking to police… take a picture, n---a’s wanna look at u.”

Consequence replied via his social media account, saying he was absolutely not pressing charges for what can be presumed as a second altercation. “Y’all hit like b-----s #straightlikethat,” he tweeted. “Actually Tahiry hit me harder n---a. I told the Police that I don’t press charges.”

For now, further details of the incident remain a mystery. There is no official word on when the reunion show will air on VH1.
