Snoop Dogg Ponders Starting a Sports Management Agency
Snoop Lion is considering taking a page out of Jay-Z's book. In early April, Jay sold his stake in the Brooklyn Nets to delve deeper into the newly launched Roc Nation Sports division, and Snoop could make a similar move.
He doesn't have a share in an NBA team to unload, but Coach Snoop is an avid sports fan, founder of a youth football league and father of a son who was recently offered multiple college scholarships to play football.
When asked into which area he'd like to break, the answer was pretty obvious. "Maybe the sports marketing agency as far as getting players to sign with me as a sports agent," Snoop said.
"There's a lot of kids that come out of my football league that are venturing off into the NFL and different sports and they're going to need direction and management, so that may be a field that I want to venture in."
Regarding Jay's aforementioned business move, Snoop gave his approval. "I commend him for that, that's what we should do when we get to the certain point that we're at. We're influential to athletes and we're very business-minded and savvy, so what better way to do than our way?"
Snoop launched the Snoop Youth Football League in 2005, aiming to use sports to teach discipline, self-respect and the value of teamwork to inner-city youth.
