Trina's Brother Slain in Miami

The 19-year-old was murdered during an argument with a friend.

Condolences are circulating as Trina and her family mourn the loss of her 19-year-old brother Wilbrent "Gonk" Bain.

Miami Dade-County Police reportedly pronounced Bain dead at the scene at Northwest 91st Street, where he was shot multiple times early Tuesday morning. The suspect, 27-year-old Ron Dobson, is in custody and has confessed to the crime. He's being charged with second degree murder.

According to local news, the two longtime acquaintances were in an argument stemming from a ongoing beef. Bain, unarmed, began to get off the bicycle he was on when Dobson pulled a gun from his waistband and opened fire.

Bain had previously survived a 2008 shooting and had a record of gun possession, burglary, drugs and domestic violence.

"He's a very good kid," family friend Rev. Gary Johnson said. "It's unfortunate. It's a terrible tragedy."

"It's a gun problem more than anything because anyone can just get a gun," another family friend said, echoing what Snoop Lion told Congress earlier this week. "I guarantee if you walk around this neighborhood now I bet you you'll get it."

Other reports include a message from Trina's management that was posted to the rapper's MySpace account. The message implies a different timeline than the police reports [at the time of publishing, the message could not be verified]:

“I have some very sad news to post. Over the weekend, Trina’s little brother was shot in Miami, FL. Wilbrent Bain Jr. is also known to friends as Goonkie and is 19 years old. He is currently in critical condition at a local Miami, FL hospital. Please keep him in your prayers and send your blessings to Trina and her family! Feel free to post comments as I will be forwarding them to Trina herself.”

According to her Twitter account, Trina was planning on dropping a new video today.
