"I'm Different" rapper will try something new for album No. 2.
2 Chainz is ready to switch up the formula for album number two. With a hit solo debut under his belt, Grammy nods, and features on every hot rap record on the charts (there's even one with Justin Bieber), the formerly minted "Tity 2 Necklace" promises to come back with that new new.
Appearing in an aptly titled "The King of Two-Liners" article for GQ's Comedy Issue donning an oversize pinky ring and holding a saw-toothed sword, the 35-year-old laid out his plan. "There's nothing new under the sun," he said of topics he could rap about. "Everyone's sold dope, f---ed b----es, popped champagne, shot guns." But, he said, "I'll take the extra minute to do it in a new way."
Thus far, being "different" has paid off for the Atlanta native, who first entered the game under Ludacris' Disturbing tha Peace imprint as a member of Playaz Circle, best known for their Lil Wayne-assisted single "Duffle Bag Boy." He ultimately blew up in the mainstream when he branched out with his first solo flight, Based on a T.R.U. Story, which debuted atop Billboard's album charts pushing 147,000 units in its first week, and was certified gold in April of this year.
His sophomore album is due out Sept. 10. Meanwhile, check this feature that dropped today from Fabolous's Loso's Way 2.
