A pesky NFL investigation isn't enough to stop the Roc Nation Sports train. Hov's agency was in fear of violating a union rule by signing New York Jets rookie Gino Smith, yet the acquisition of another NFL player is already in the works.
DeSean Jackson, wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles, is rumored to be teaming with Jay-Z's company soon. Jackson reportedly dropped longtime agent Drew Rosenhaus to join The Roc.
26-year-old Jackson signed a $50 million five-year contract with the Eagles last March.
Although new to the sports management world, Mr. Carter's team has been proactive in snatching up athletes. Starting with New York Yankees star Robinson Cano in April, the agency has signed a bunch of athletes from different arenas.
When he's not making sports deals, Jay is still very much a solo entity. He's said to be signing a $20 million endorsement deal with Samsung, according to the New York Post's Page Six gossip column. "The eight-figure deal will be inked in the next few weeks, and is the biggest of its kind," a source told the paper. "You can speculate that he’ll want to develop some kind of new music-streaming service to promote his acts and music on mobile devices."
