Beyoncé Premieres "Rise Up" off Epic Soundtrack
Beyoncé is no stranger to inspirational music. Many of the Houston native's biggest hits have been anthemic, promoting girl power, or both. Her latest, "Rise Up," is no different.
Co-penned by Sia (the Australian singer/songwriter behind Rihanna's "Diamonds" single) and produced by Hit Boy and Chase N. Cash, "Rise Up" is as uplifting as the title suggests. "Be who you are," she sings. "Fight for you and me/Look into my eyes and believe."
"Rise Up" is sonically nothing like her uptempo "Grown Woman" track the that leaked online last month, but at this point, any and all new music brings us one step closer to album No. 5; and with no huge details about the release, the BeyHive is grateful for whatever it can get.
Besides singing the lead track, the 31-year-old also voices the character of Queen Tara in the 3-D animated adventure loosely based on the William Joyce children's book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs.
Other celebs featured in the film are Pitbull, Aziz Ansari, Colin Farrell and Christoph Waltz. Amanda Seyfried did the voice for the main character Mary Katherine, a teenage girl magically transported to a land where she joins a battle between good and evil.
Epic is in theaters now.
