BET's Music Matters showcase always brings the best of upstart talent, and at tonight's show, at the NYC hot spot SOB's, one of the most recognizable "aren't you that guy from ...?" faces will be performing.

Although he isn't widely known yet, singer Mateo already has an extensive resume with some pretty big names to go along with his gifted vocals.

A soul singer at heart with a musical range that radiates from pop to alternative, Mateo was picked up in 2010 and signed to Krucial Noise, the same label imprint of Alicia Keys' longtime time producer/songwriting-partner Kerry "Krucial" Brothers.

Since then, he's done features for Keys; her hubby, Swizz Beatz; and he's released numerous mixtapes and has had his hit "Say It's So," featuring vocals from the musical couple, chart the Billboard 100.

Mateo is currently signed with Interscope Records.

He will be electrifying the stage tonight with other talented performers, Kel Spencer, Asia Sparks, Jade Alston and DB2.

Hosting the showcase will be Buttahman and Vanessa Fraction along with DJ Lyve. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the first performer will hit the stage at 8 p.m. Come by and check it out. You must be 21+ to attend the event.
