2 Chainz Announces Album Title, Admits to Getting Robbed

Rapper hits Atlanta's Birthday Bash to drop big news.

The weekend was about three things for 2 Chainz: a birthday bash, a confession and a huge announcement. Atlanta's current rap king had much to get off his chest between shutting it down on a hometown stage, revealing the title of album No. 2 and that whole attempted robbery situation.
The 35-year-old performed to a packed house at Atlanta's 18th annual Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash Saturday (Jun. 15), telling fans that his sophomore effort will be titled "B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time."
Breaking music news was one of two surprises 2 Chainz had for fans, the second being Drake. October's Very Own marked his first performance at Birthday Bash with a song medley of singles  like "Love Me," "No New Friends" and "Houstalantavegas," off 2009's So Far Gone mixtape. "Every time I touch down in the city, I got so many memories. This is really where I started with Wayne," he told MTV News after the performance. "Tonight to kinda give back and be out there with Chainz and get that look together was great."
Prior to his Birthday Bash gig, the conversation surrounding 2 Chainz involved last week's robbery and his blatant denial of the report. After a statement from police, video footage and his bodyguard's account, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper finally fessed up to being the victim of what thankfully wasn't a fatal attack. "I saw the gun first," he told Hot 107.9's Emperor Searcy, Mz Shyneck and Mister Smith. "It was like a .357, it was so heavy he couldn't hold it. The gun was so big, that's what made me take off running."
Surveillance video shows the "No Lie" rapper sprinting away from a gunman, but it didn't catch all of the details. "When I went into the street, there was another dude with a whole 'nother gun," he continued. "That's when I knew it wasn't like an episode of Punk'd. I was like this is real.
"I had bullet fragments in my hair… I think he thought he shot me. It was a misfortunate accident. I didn't fill out a report."
In hindsight, 2 Chainz learned that being successful doesn't always compute to adoration. "I don't think they were trying to rob me. They really was just about busting on me on some real stuff. At the end of the day, it's just a part of me growing as an artist, me becoming more pop, me becoming a superstar. "
That doesn't mean the incident will dim his shine. "I'm just excited about life. I'm so turnt up, you can't turn me down. I'm just reeked about life. Then when I saw the footage. I'm like it was real. They was on my ass! This was a sign. That's all it was. I come from this."
