Chris Brown Slapped With Hit-and-Run Charges

Singer could face four years over probation violation.

Just when Chris Brown was coasting his way through one allegation of wrongdoing comes a blow from another. The L.A. City Attorney has filed a pair of criminal charges against Brown for fleeing the scene of an accident, TMZ reports.
Breezy got into a minor collision with a woman last month. The 24-year-old hit the woman's Mercedes, allegedly gave false insurance information and wouldn't hand over his ID before eventually fleeing the scene.
From the start, Brown denied the allegationsc, stating that he handled everything properly but hadn't heard back from the woman, and maintains the story. "It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous," he tweeted this afternoon.

"I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene. She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures. My lawyers will be contacting you. I will not stand for this bullying and yellow journalism!"

In addition to charges over leaving the incident without exchanging correct paperwork, the "Don't Think They Know" singer faces a count for driving without a valid license. Both charges are punishable by up to six months in jail.
Were it not for his previous criminal history, Brown wouldn't have much to worry about. The crooner is still on probation stemming from his 2009 assault on Rihanna, which could now translate to serious jail time. The L.A. City Attorney is expected to forward the charges to the local D.A. over potential probation violation. If found in breach of the aforementioned disciplinary action, he could spend up to four years behind bars.
In the midst of all the legal issues, Brown is prepping the release of his album, X, due out in July.
