Mack 10 Talks West Coast Fest 2013

Mack 10 has been a staple of West Coast hip hop for nearly two decades, so it only makes sense that his company, Behind The Scenes, be the brain (and the checkbook) to take the West Coast Fest on the road.

Back in March, the west came together in downtown L.A. for one night. Mack told BET.com that the feedback was so overwhelmingly positive, the artists decided to make a tour out of it.

"It was sold out and the crowd was epic," said Mack, "so the biggest question from everybody was, 'When are we gonna do this again?'"

Mack will be re-joining a lineup that also includes fellow West Coast pioneers DJ Quik, E-40, Warren G and Tha Dogg Pound as well as honorary West Coasters Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (all 5 of them), among others.

The tour starts tonight (Jun. 28) in Fresno, CA, and will end in Indio, CA, on Sept. 21.

"Everybody is grown, about they business and about they money," the Inglewood OG notes, reflecting for a moment on his time as part of the polarizing Westside Connection. These days, in addition to concert promotion, Mack has his hands in music and film production ("I don't know nobody that got enough money, you dig?" he said), however he maintains that there's nothing like the thrill of being on stage. And now that he's lost over 60 pounds and looking healthier than ever, Mack says he feels like a young gun again.

"I feel great for real," proclaims Mack. "I'm really blessed homey, for real. Very fortunate. The game overall really has been good to me."
