Foxy Brown Explains Summer Jam Absence

Rapper called off anticipated reunion with Lil Kim because it didn’t feel real.

Foxy Brown says she didn't take the stage at Hot 97's Summer Jam this year because of Lil Kim. Brown made an emotional visit to MTV's RapFix Live and broke down her reasoning. "It wasn't orchestrated properly," she told host Sway Calloway, discrediting reports that she showed up too late to take the stage.

The Ill NaNa was slated as a surprise guest of Fabolous. The night before, Fab called to tell her his idea of bringing Kim out as well (pairing the two could've brought an end to one of hip hop's longest running feuds). However, Foxy and Kim aren't on speaking terms, and Foxy felt that wasn't the proper place for a first-time hug-out. "I've always been the one to extend the olive branch," she said of other female rappers. "That's why Nicki [Minaj] and I are the way we are, and that's why she gives me the respect that she gives me."

But unlike her relationship with Minaj, bad things tend to happen when Brown and the Queen Bee share a space. The last time they were "even in the same vicinity" a shootout broke out, and there have been tons of verbal shots sent over the years. "The last comments I ever remember hearing her make about me, she laughed at the fact that I lost my hearing. When people do things like that and they have malicious intent, that's different than just a rap battle."

A truce isn't completely ruled out, though. "If we can orchestrate a situation where it's real, then I'm with it," Brown said. "If it's not real, I'm not wit' it."

No word yet on how Kim feels about that.
