DMX Arrested After Traffic Stop

South Carolina police jail rapper on outstanding warrant.

Update: DMX's rep, Dominick Nati, sent a statement to BET.com denying details of the original report. "Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released this morning at approximately 11am EST and is back at his home in South Carolina."

DMX was arrested in South Carolina last night all while professing his innocence and experiencing a mild medical emergency. According to TMZ, X was pulled over for an illegal U-turn but he wasn't actually driving, a friend was at the wheel.

Police say they found weed in the vehicle and busted X on an outstanding warrant. In video footage from the scene, the former Ruff Ryder repeatedly denies that he and the woman driving did anything wrong. "This ain't no normal traffic stop!" he yells.

From there, X questions why so many cops are at the scene and claims he may be the victim of a set-up adding, "It was legal. They got nothing."

X also suffered a small asthma attack during his arrest and had to be treated by paramedics.

A minor health scare and verbal protests weren't enough to stop the legal process, however. The 42-year-old was taken to jail in Greer Country, SC, and will likely get 15 days in custody, which could be shaved down to 10 days for good behavior, law enforcement sources say.

He is scheduled to appear in court sometime today.
