Nicki Minaj Talks American Idol on Ellen

Rapper says she wouldn't return to singing competition.

Nicki Minaj has no plans to go back to American Idol, the rap diva confirms during an eye-popping appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show airing today (Sept. 27). Minaj was on hand to promote her Minajesty fragrance and wore a short black jacket with no shirt or bra underneath. DeGeneres mouthed, "What is this?" when she walked out and jokingly took her to task for the bra-less look.

Once they got past her fashion, talk turned to the singing competition. DeGeneres, also an-ex judge, previously warned Minaj that she wouldn't have time to join the Idol panel, but the YMCMB Barbie is happy she gave it a try. "I wouldn't trade it for the world," she said of the season-long gig. "It was a great learning experience, honestly."

There wasn't much time to harp on it after the Idol departure, Minaj explained. She went straight into public appearances and her first official acting role, where she will appear alongside Cameron Diaz. "I didn't even get to sit back and think 'What did I just do?' It kind of happened so quick and then it was over," she added.

The 30-year-old won't be making a recurring run á la Jennifer Lopez, however. She told DeGeneres "No" when asked if she'd ever return. She didn't elaborate but the ride on Idol was a bumpy one in the public eye. Besides constant clashes with Mariah Carey, the show's ratings dropped to a franchise low during the season.

Now that she's freed up from her TV job, the "Starships" rapper has more time to devote to her music and is currently working on a new album.
