DJ Quik Quitting Music?

West Coast legend puts recording equipment up for sale.

DJ Quik is throwing in the towel on producing and put his equipment up for sale, this according to his Twitter timeline yesterday. “It’s official, I’m selling all my equipment,” he wrote. “Furthermore I will not remix or engineer for anyone from this day forward. Thanks true Fans.”

Quik didn’t drop too many details about why he’s calling it quits, but offered another explanation with the vague tweet, “There is only one truth. This is about me selling my drum machine and keyboards, not bout my character. Thank u.”

The 43-year-old’s decision was likely fueled by the theft of his Akai Linn MPC3000 drum machine, stolen from his Woodland Hills, Calif. home recently. He recounted the incident to AllHipHop.com where he also blamed ex-Death Row Records affiliate Travon Lane for Tupac's death and the label's fall.

Of the stolen machine, Quik explained that his son left the garage door open. “Just because we live in a white neighborhood doesn't mean there ain't thieves either,” he explained. “Somebody White took my motherf------ drum machine."

"The hard drives were part of a set and when one of them dies, the other one dies too," he explained. “So I'm going to sell it on Twitter when I get home."

The collectible, selling for no more than $3,000, holds music loops and samples used for records for the likes of Eminem, Jay Z, and 50 Cent.
