Detroit MC talks collaborating with Rih Rih for "The Monster."
Em, currently making the rounds promoting The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which dropped today, recently broke down why Rih Rih was the perfect fit for his "The Monster" single. "I thought it would be a good idea to have her on it because I think people look at us like we're both a little nuts," he told MTV News. "That's one of the things that I was telling her in making the record: I think that people look at us a little crazy."
He said he thought of her for the record immediately. "As soon as I got the beat I just heard her on it. I wanted to make sure that I had it finished first to be able to present to her, but once I had the rhymes done, I sent it to her."
Although scheduling conflicts stopped them from recording together, Em is happy with the finished product. "She smashed it like she does always," he gushed. "It's pretty incredible."
"The Monster" isn't just a solid music collaboration to add to Rihanna's resume, it also made history, debuting atop the U.K. singles charts. The milestone adds Rihanna with Elvis Presley and the Beatles as one of only three acts to score No. 1 singles in the U.K. over seven consecutive years.
