Lady Gaga and Manager Troy Carter Split

Lady Gaga and Manager Troy Carter Split

Duo sold more than 20 million albums worldwide together.

Less than a week before the release of her third studio album and after more than 20 million albums sold worldwide together, Lady Gaga and her manager, Troy Carter, are going their separate ways, reports Showbiz 411.

A source told the site that the split is due to "creative differences."

Gaga and Carter have been working together since 2007, ahead of the release of her major label debut, The Fame (via Interscope Records), which earned Best Electronic/Dance Album at the Grammy's and Best International Album at the BRIT Awards. They also put together her follow up campaign for Born This Way, which pushed platinum in its first week; garnered its share of religious condemnation; and earned a People's Choice Award for Favorite Album, and Best International Album and Best Western Album from Japan.

Beyond album sales, Gaga has become, over the years, a well known LGBT advocate, philanthropist and fashion icon; and has held a spot as one of Forbes' 100 Most Powerful Women since 2010.

"She was very specific about her vision, all of the music was there, and all she needed was someone to help her translate it to the rest of the world, which is where I came in," Carter told The Hollywood Reporter about the singer earlier this year.

But for her latest album, ARTPOP, she wasn't "taking direction anymore," a source said.

ARTPOP, with features from R. Kelly ("Do What U Want"), T.I., Twista and Too $hort ("Jewels N' Drugs"), is due out Nov. 11

Carter also manages John Legend and Mindless Behavior.
