Three dates on her Electric Lady jaunt have been postponed while the singer is on "mandatory vocal rest," according to a statement posted on her site Tuesday (Nov. 5).
Monáe was billed to hit Anaheim, Calif., the same day she announced the canceled dates, and Arizona and San Diego later in the week. "Starting today, I am under strict doctor's orders for mandatory vocal rest. Not doing so could possibly result in damage to my vocal cords," she said.
"Unfortunately, this diagnosis means I will have to postpone my coming concerts in Anaheim, San Diego and Phoenix, a fact which truly leaves me heartsick and shaken because I live for this: connecting with you and giving you a one of a kind concert experience. But alas, apparently even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge."
Monáe has yet to announce the rescheduled shows.
The 27-year-old's tour is in promotion of her sophomore effort, Electric Lady, released in September. She will make her return to the stage Nov. 9 in Dallas.
