Lil Boosie Gets Prison Release Date

Boosie scheduled to get out by the end of next summer.

Lil Boosie is that much closer to being free.

The 31-year-old rapper's release date has been set for Aug. 18, 2014, on the Louisiana Department of Corrections website, reports Nola.com

Boosie's new date is about a year from the most recently reported deadlines, like the one Rick Ross announced during an interview with Power 105.1 in September. "They telling me November," he said, adding an offer for a deal with Maybach Music Group. "I'm going to put a bag on the table for that boy. You never know."

Days after Rozay's statements, Rolling Stone writer Jeffrey Weiss, who has been following the embattled rapper's case, tweeted that Boosie would be out in "no more than four to five months."

Boosie, aka Torrence Hatch, has been behind bars for the last several years, first for a probation violation stemming from a 2008 drug bust. He was indicted on first-degree murder in 2010, and acquitted last year.

The Louisiana native remains locked up on an eight-year sentence for smuggling codeine, weed, and ecstasy into the Angola Prison facility. Although he pleaded guilty to drug charges, Boosie's lawyer argued that the drug incident was a set-up by an informant.

Meanwhile, prison isn't keeping Boosie away from his fans. Supporters have been kept up-to-date on his legal battles via the BoosieJustice.com site, and his official Facebook page, which has 3.7 million likes.
