Did Diggy Simmons' Mom Really Say That?

Rev. Run and Justine Simmons reveal the role they played in their son's bold new song, "Mama Said."

Lil' Diggy Simmons is 18 now, and he's put his no-cursing-in-music philosophy soundly to rest. In a surprising new song, unwrapped just around Christmastime 2013, the Run's House co-star spits one-part vicious, one-part courageous, on a track featuring B.o.B and producer/crooner Key Wane.

"Mama said, 'f--k 'em,' so I went and said, 'f--k 'em'/ They ain't do s--t for me, so I don't owe a n---a nothing," Diggy raps on "Mama Said."

But did his mother, Justine Simmons, wife of hip hop legend Rev. Run, really say that?

"Mama definitely said something to him," Rev Run tells BET.com, adding that he's not passing any judgement on Diggy's choice of words. "It is what it is, that's how he felt, that's the way he wanted to express himself, he's an artist."

And for anyone else who may want to pass judgement on his progeny, Rev notes, "If you look back at my tapes, I was kinda ill ... the record 'Run's House' [from Run-D.M.C.'s 1988 album, Tougher Than Leather] did not come from it being my house, it came from me cursing out MCs and saying, 'this is my motherf---ing house!"

Check the vid below to see what Mama Simmons' reaction was (her facial expressions reveal all).
