50 Cent Announces SXSW Concert
SXSW just got a little bit more appeal to 50 Cent fans. The G-Unit leader will headline a SXSW concert next Tuesday (March 11) to be live-streamed via the Hang w/ mobile app, Billboard reports.
"I'm excited to be able to bring my fans behind the scenes and give the opportunity to those who couldn’t make it a chance to experience a concert at South by Southwest," 50 said in a statement.
This year, the acclaimed annual festival will be held March 7-16 and feature a film festival, including a premier of Andre 3000's Jimmy Hendrix biopic; and a bunch of other rap acts on the performance bill including Future, Chance the Rapper, ScHoolyBoy Q, Tech N9ne and A$AP Rocky.
For Fif, taking over a Texas stage is the second big music reveal he's made recently. Two weeks ago, he announced a split from Interscope Records and the release of his heavily-delayed fifth studio album, Animal Ambition, in June, via an independent label.
The SXSW gig is part of a partnership deal the Queens MC has with the Hang w/ video sharing platform, which he invested in last year. The live streaming option is billed as "reality TV on steroids" by Hang w/ chief executive Andrew Maltin.
