Drake has something in the works for the city he considers his "second home." Yesterday, October's Very Own used his Instagram account to announce an upcoming Houston Appreciation Weekend posted with the caption, "Houston, Texas! Dates Coming Soon…"
HAW will be presented by the OVO team. That's all we really know about the event, but likely there will be some surprise guests in store.
One thing is for sure though, when it comes to Houston, the 28-year-old rap star isn't shy about showing his dedication. Back before stardom, Drake flew to Houston to meet with Lil Wayne, which ultimately changed the course of his career. He rhymes about the Weezy meeting on "November 18th," and name drops the city in various other verses (his third and latest studio album, Nothing Was the Same, has six separate H-Town references). He also got an "H" tattooed on his a shoulder last year.
In the meantime, Drake is gearing up for his annual OVO Fest scheduled for Toronto this August, headlined by Outkast, and is still traveling abroad (usually with Rihanna in tow), for the European leg of Would You Like a Tour?
During a stop in Berlin Saturday (March 8), the Canadian spitter serenaded the bajan beauty he once called "the ultimate fantasy" by covering her love ballad, "Stay."
