UPDATE: Tyler, the Creator has been released from jail on $25,000 bond, according to XXL. The Odd Future rapper was arrested for allegedly inciting a riot outside the venue of his SXSW show, and if he is found guilty, he could face up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
Because of the location of ths incident (SWSX), several media outlets have linked him to the deadly hit and run that occurred at the festival early Thursday morning. Since his release, he's addressed the false reports.
"Dear you, the tragedy that happened had absolutely NOTHING to do with the show at Thrasher at a different location a day later," he tweeted. "So please stop going out of your way to mention the tragedy and tie me to it, that's not cool and it bums me out."
Also following his release, the "Wolf" rapper performed at a sold-out show in Dallas without incident.
Tyler, the Creator has been arrested in Texas for starting a riot. The Odd Future frontman was put in cuffs at the airport in Austin and remains in custody on a $25,000 bond, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The incident occurred at the SXSW Music Festival, when Tyler encouraged fans waiting outside barracades to storm a music venue that was already at full capacity. "Just run in right now ... do it, let's go," he reportedly told the crowd. "Specifically, the subject encouraged a large crowd on more than one occasion to force themselves past venue employees controlling access at the venue which was already at full capacity," read a statement from authorities.
The crowd followed his instructions, and the ensuing riot put fans already inside the venue at grave danger, with TMZ reporting that one bartender got punched in the face for trying to save a woman from getting trampled.
Austin police also released a video of the riot. Tyler, whose real name is Tyler Gregory Okonma, has been charged with a Riot Class-A Misdemeanor.
