Elle Varner Confesses on "See Me Tonight"

Singer unveils the latest track to promote her upcoming 4 Letter Word LP.

A broken heart has Elle Varner ready to go into hiding "for a week, or maybe a month or so," on her new track "See Me Tonight."

The record is the latest in Varner's promotional campaign where she will drop a quartet of new music as a lead to her forthcoming sophomore effort, 4 Letter Word. "Cold Case," the first song of the four-track series, was released earlier in the month.

Like its predecessor, "See Me Tonight" centers around a spoiled love affair, but with less assertive lyrics. It opens with jazz notes and transforms into a funky mid-tempo take on getting over a relationship.

The 25-year-old peppers the lyrics with confessions like, "When I'm with him I wish that he was you instead," and "I'm more than half way gone."

As for her new album, the music will be "sexier" than her Perfectly Imperfect debut of two years ago. "I just went there. I don't hold anything back," she told Vibe last month. "I'm not a little girl. I know that I'm a role model, but everyone is going to grow up and all I can do is share my truth and know that there are going to be girls and women that go through the same things I did. It is what it is. I'm not here to be perfect."

4 Letter Word is slated for release later in the year.
