Dame Dash: Jay Z and Solange's Elevator Fight Was Funny

Ex Roc-A-Fella boss shares his thoughts on the Carter/Knowles squabble.

Just because Jay Z and Solange have moved on from that infamous elevator fight doesn't mean that Damon "Dame" Dash is ready to let the story go just yet.

Dash wasn't directly involved in whatever disagreement led to Beyoncé's baby sister attacking Hovito, but the former rap mogul's ex-wife Rachel Roy was thrown into the mix as a possible cause of the scuffle. His former friendship with Jay and relationship with Roy hasn't stopped Dash from finding the humor in the situation, and he thinks all parties should do the same. "I laughed. That s--t was funny," he told Hip Hop Motivation in a video shot from his kitchen in Malibu, Calif.

"I wouldna handled it like that," continued the ex Roc-A-Fella boss. "I just thought it was funny because Jay is the kind of guy, you never see him moving. Also, I feel like nobody teases Jay except me. For some reason. it's just the first time I've seen people freely expressing themselves."

If there's anyone in hip hop who knows about private matters becoming public, its Dash. The Harlem native is building his way back up from losing his multi-million dollar fortune, and has admittedly been the brunt of jokes about his predicament. The experience has taught him to laugh things off, like Jay should. "I don't think he should be mad about it [the elevator fight], he should just be laughing. That s--t was funny. Everybody fights."

Because of Jay's celebrity stature, Dash said he understands why his one-time business partner had to handle things strategically. "Jay has to worry about perception because corporately people pay him. He really has to play that game," he said. "I thought what was ironic about it was people got to see how he plays s--t off. Something crazy could happen and then four seconds later, when it's cameras on, they act like nothing was goin' on. I thought that was interesting."

Dash also joked about Roy's supposed involvement. "If he was tryna holla at my wife though? That's kinda f----d up," he said laughing. "I don't think he's doing that, that would be bad…but I would hope that wouldn't be the case."

Since the fight, Jay, Solange and Bey have all gone back to their everyday lives. The family released a public statement and officially put the rift behind them. That hasn't done much to deter rumors and reports that continue to link Rachel Roy to the family dispute.

In a recent article on Eonline.com, an unnamed source said that the Carters did not attend Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's wedding because they were leery of being around Roy, who is a close friend of the bride.
