Justin Timberlake Catches Flack for Western Wall Photo
A photo of Justin Timberlake in Israel is earning the pop star slack on social media. On Tuesday (May 27) Timberlake Instagrammed a photo from Jerusalem's Western Wall captioned, "The Holy Land... What an experience. I will never forget this day. #Israel."
His photo was well received by Israeli fans but incited uproar among supporters of Palestine, which neighbors the country. The image itself garnered more than 250,000 likes and over 12,000 comments, including some attempting to school Timberlake on the Israel and Palestine conflict.
One person wrote, "Israel is defiantly not holy land. they kill palestians [sic] every single day for nothing!" wrote on person. Another added, "There was never an Israel, this was always Palestine."
The "TKO" singer was in town for a stop on his 20/20 Experience World Tour. He performed in Tel Aviv Wednesday, which was also Jerusalem Day, an Israeli holiday commemorating what is known as the reunification of the city. The celebration however was marred by Palestinian protests.
Timberlake never responded to the photo backlash. In fact, he's already gearing up for the next show. He performs in Morocco tomorrow.
