The hip hop duo sits down with Hit-Boy to explain why "Grindin' My Whole Life" relates to everybody.
Rapper/producer Hit-Boy's label HS87 is about more than just making a home for artists trying to elevate the music game, it's about promoting passion and chemistry. His label mates Audio Push (Pricetag and Oktane) have been his friends for years, but they’ve been on his music radar since they started their journey navigating through the current and fickle state of hip hop.
"I [saw] these dudes do show after show. Small s--t, big s--t, just whatever it takes to get them to the next level. They got the hustle and that's what I rock with because I've been moving through the game on my own," Hit-Boy explained. "For them to keep themselves afloat, you know, on top of them being my homies and being talented, they wanna be better, they wanna be ill, they wanna be the illest and that's what I wanna be! So, we're just rockin' with each other. It's just a natural thing, man."
One-half of the rap duo, Pricetag, explained that the crew is in a constant state of creating new material to show and prove their collective growth after HS87’s 2013 compilation album, All I Ever Dreamed Of. This was extremely important since they weren't enthused about anything they were hearing and were ready to flip the game.
"Let's show ourselves, let's show the people that we've grown and keep it crackin'," Price said. "And then we've also been hearing so much junky music, we also need to hurry up and put music out too, and put that quality back out there."
After years of making their way to the forefront of the game, Audio Push is finally getting the recognition that they deserve due to their verse on "Grindin' All My Life."
"Everybody who's anybody can relate to that song," Oktane said, adding, "And seeing people start to relate to the song is awesome, man. It's a dope feeling."
